The Herzogliches Bräustüberl in Tegernsee stands in the former monastery and belongs to the ducal brewery.

History

Tegernsee Monastery was founded in the 8th century, and its brewing tradition goes back a long way. After secularisation it passed to the Wittelsbach family, whose ducal brewery still operates here.

What to expect

Locals sit next to day-trippers in the large hall and the beer garden. The beer comes fresh from the brewery, with snacks from the butcher. It gets loud.

Visiting tips

It is a short walk from Tegernsee station. Weekends are busy, so come late morning or midweek. It suits the end of a day at Tegernsee or after the Neureuth hike.
