Rose Island in Starnberger See: Casino and Rose Garden

Starnberger See has only one island: the roughly 2.5-hectare Rose Island in Feldafing Bay.
History
King Maximilian II built a summer house here in the mid-19th century, the so-called Casino, along with a rose garden. His son Ludwig II met Empress Elisabeth here. Long before that a stilt-house settlement stood on the site, now a UNESCO World Heritage property.
Getting there
A small ferry runs in season from Feldafing to the island. From Feldafing station it is a walk through the Lenné Park.
Tips
The roses are at their best in June. The Casino can be visited on a guided tour.
