Bavarian Lakes in Winter: Trips and Ice Safety

In winter you mostly meet walkers at the lakes, and the car parks are free.
Lovely destinations
Shoreline paths at Tegernsee and Schliersee are usually cleared. At Königssee boats generally keep running to St. Bartholomä. Spitzingsee offers skiing and tobogganing right by the shore.
Caution on the ice
Only step on frozen lakes when the local authority has officially opened them. You cannot judge the ice from outside, even after days of frost.
Winter walks
The Neureuth is a popular route, and microspikes keep you safe on ice.
