The route
The Herzogstand cable car saves the first climb. From the Herzogstandhaus walk to the summit and along the exposed ridge to Heimgarten, then descend to Walchensee. Distance applies from the top station.

Getting to the start
Buses run from Kochel over the Kesselberg to Walchensee. By car take the B11 via Kochel; it gets busy on summer weekends and roadside parking fills fast.
