Short, steep summit between Kochelsee and Walchensee.
The route
From the Kesselberg, climb through mountain forest in many hairpins. The 1,565 m summit shows both lakes at once. Descend the same way or via the Jocheralm to Urfeld.
Who is this walk for?
This walk needs stamina and sure feet on mountain paths. It is usually too long for small children.
Good to knowThe Kesselberg car park is small and full early at weekends.
Getting to the start
Buses run from Kochel over the Kesselberg to Walchensee. By car take the B11 via Kochel; it gets busy on summer weekends and roadside parking fills fast.
Out and back. Best time: May to November. Distances and times are guide values. Check weather, trail conditions and train times before you set off.
