A short loop to the lake’s most famous viewpoint.
The route
From the Seelände landing in Schönau the loop follows the northern shore through woods to the Malerwinkel, where the view opens across the lake towards St. Bartholomä. A higher path leads back to the village.

This walk suits beginners and usually children. Normal fitness and sturdy shoes are enough.
Good to knowThe light is best in the afternoon, when the sun hits the west shore.
Getting to the start
Buses run from Berchtesgaden main station to Schönau am Königssee. Drivers use the large car park on Seestraße. In summer start early: the first boats are emptier, and at midday you can queue for a long time at the landing.
