Easy lake walk below the Zugspitze.
The route
Start at the Eibsee car park or the Zugspitze Railway stop. The wide path circles the lake for about 7 km, past small bays, jetties and Zugspitze views. The north side is quieter; the south side has the big mountain views.
Who is this walk for?
This walk suits beginners and usually children. Normal fitness and sturdy shoes are enough.
Good to knowStart early: the car park fills before 10 am on summer days.
Getting to the start
The Bavarian Zugspitze Railway runs from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Eibsee, plus a bus in summer. The car park is large but fills early on fine days.
