The route
From central Mittenwald walk through the Laintal to Lautersee, then on to Ferchensee. The return runs over the Kranzberg, whose chairlift shortens the descent.

This walk suits beginners and usually children. Normal fitness and sturdy shoes are enough.
Good to knowBoth lakes have inns, but they have closed days off-season.
Getting to the start
Mittenwald has a station on the Munich–Innsbruck line. The access road is closed to vehicles, so walk or cycle up.
